The Purple Bus
The Purple Bus has been providing quality youth work in rural areas of West Sussex since 1995. Young people were involved in the design of the vehicle and it is packed full with information, activities and resources that address the needs of young people.

Working in partnership
The Purple Bus is managed by West Sussex Youth Service and works in partnership with the Action in rural Sussex, Chichester and Horsham District Councils. Parish Councils and other interested individuals to form the West Sussex Rural Mobile Youth Trust
We work to the West Sussex Youth Service Curriculum Framework which is based on the outcomes identified in Every Child Matters 2004;

Working with communities
This project is a planned response to facilitate the personal, social, and educational development of young people to enable them to gain a voice, influence and place in society thus also benefiting the rural communities the Purple Bus visits.
The Purple Bus recognises that young people in rural areas face an additional set of barriers and are disadvantaged because the effects of rural isolation. By working with communities and their young people we are seeking over come those barriers. We also undertake consultation of young people for Parish plans, community action, community safety, service development, and promotes the active engagement of young people in local democracy.
